Guess what happened to me last week? A blizzard! I have never been in a blizzard before. It sure was an exciting and new experience for me. There is one thing I have learned since moving to Virginia…it sure does snow, A LOT HERE! I really do love the snow, but a blizzard is really something special.
I was ready though. Our weather station had alerted us that a storm was moving in. That storm lasted for three whole days. For those three days, all I saw was white everywhere. It was so peaceful and quiet. Thank goodness I had my camo coat that I could wear. It was waterproof and even had a hood if I needed it. In South Carolina, I rarely got to wear a coat like that. I think it looks good on me, don’t you? After three days of being in the snow, I was wishing I had some boots. I’ll just keep that between you and me. No need to get something started, you know! Next thing I know, I’ll end up in boots every time I have to go outside. Country dogs are expected to have dirty paws!
There’s nothing better than frolicking in the snow, carefree with no worries except hoping we hadn’t run out of snacks! Playing in the snow makes me really hungry. I like the pepperoni sticks the best. It’s just the perfect end to a day to enjoy a pepperoni stick! Each day, I would run to the cabin door and sure enough, the snow was still coming down. There were times when it was so heavy, the mountain across the way disappeared.
Just A Few Problems With A Blizzard
At this point, I was beginning to have a few problems. The snow was getting pretty deep and started to freeze my under body. I was beginning to feel like a popsicle. You probably don’t realize, but when everything is covered in white, that significantly hinders my ability to smell for certain spots! That can be a big problem for me. Nothing really smelled good. I would have to go back inside and try again later.
By the third day, the excitement was starting to wear off. I tried to be excited. I took off down the cabin stairs to give it another go. That was it. I had enough and turned around and ran as fast as I could back to the cabin. I had just figured out that under our cabin was nice and dry and, best of all, snow free! It also smelled good under there too!
