Last Decisions
Some of the last decisions to be made on our small farmhouse build was hardware for the cabinets and vanities. Cabinet hardware is that final decorative piece! Those decorative pieces are pretty important. It can literally make or break the look and feel of your kitchen and bathroom. Once we decided on the cabinet style and color, the search began for hardware that was both functional, budget-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
By the end of our farmhouse build, the budget was lean! I initially began searching for hardware at the home improvement stores. There were many choices from stock items to special order. I did a quick run through the hardware isle and I realized something quickly. To my surprise, there was not one style that that caught my eye or grabbed my attention.
Our small farmhouse build was special to us. It represented walking away from our old life and not attempting to recreate our former kitchen. This build was about choosing things for this house that we loved and thinking outside the decorating box. I was eager to find something different for this kitchen in every way!
I turned my attention to my favorite way of decorating. . .online shopping! In searching for hardware, I was immediately drawn to a website that had what I was looking for, “D. Lawless!”
Kitchen Cabinet Hardware
For the kitchen cabinets, I chose the “Black Sisal Bar Pull” in flat black. I was drawn to its simplicity but yet pretty detail. The center of the pull has a smooth finish with a cool twist on each end.
The hardware material is zinc and had weight to it. Without a doubt, the pulls were nice quality and far surpassed my expectations. I absolutely love how it looks on the kitchen cabinets.
Without upper cabinets in the kitchen, (opting for windows instead), I decided on 5 inch pulls for the lower cabinets. With various size drawers, the 5 inch pulls were the right choice to balance out the bottom cabinets. The black pulls on our shaker-style cabinets are a lovely combination. At the time of this post, they are on sale for $1.75 each. Now that is what I call budget-friendly!
Bathroom Vanity Hardware
After deciding on chrome accessories for both bathrooms, I was thrilled to find hardware that fit the rustic farmhouse style I was going for. I chose a combination of chrome cabinet knobs and cup pulls for that little bit of “bling” on our otherwise rustic vanities.
With both being from the “Country Store Collection“, it was fitting that I chose these. If there is one thing we love around here, it’s a good old-fashioned country store!
The knobs we chose were 1 1/4″. With the super bright polished chrome and weight of these, they are a definite winner! At $1.29 a piece at this posting, it definitely won’t bust the budget!
I really love the bright chrome cup pulls! So functional and beautiful, yet very easy to keep clean and shiny. The hardware gives such a sparkle to the bathroom! Again, at only $1.89, this Country Store collection is so budget-friendly.
Is there anything more satisfying in decorating than getting the look you want at a fraction of the cost! In the end, we spent just over $50 for the hardware for the house! By the way, if your order totals more than $50, they include free shipping!
Are you contemplating cabinet hardware on a new build or just giving old cabinets or vanities a facelift? Checkout D. Lawless and see if anything catches your eye!
Wishing you happy hardware, budget-friendly shopping!
