The Hike
It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon. Because we have had so much gloomy, rainy weather lately, it was a perfect day to hike our property. With 25 acres, there are still areas I have never seen. Of course, Charlie wanted to come with us on our hike. Taking Charlie along on a hike isn’t the most fun thing for us, but it gives him so much joy and pleasure. You feel guilty denying him those opportunities. Bless his sweet, little heart! I think he gets cabin fever just like we do. His nose is on scent overload the entire time. He very much wants his way in the direction of our hike!
We were on the last leg (literally) and headed back to our little cabin. It was at this point in our hike we discovered this little treasure! It was gorgeous! The sound from our waterfall was lovely and so relaxing. We paused and just took it all in. Charlie did what he always does when he finds any body of water. He jumped in, took a drink and cooled off! By the time we reached the waterfall, his tongue was hanging out. There was no hesitation in what his intentions would be. He was a very happy dog!
Living in the mountains, the landscape can change daily. We are blessed to have all sorts of beautiful sights and sounds to enjoy. You never know what beauty may await you on a hike! What a wonderful gem to find at the end of a splendid day!
